A while back I helped a friend sort out her little Nikon EM, it had been given to her by her mom and meant a lot. It was one of my first rescue projects and it took a while, but all it really needed was some new light seals. I was granted an extended test run with the camera for my efforts and I was hooked.
I've since acquired my own version, I love the small size of the EM, its ability to use any Nikon F-mount lens and, most importantly, it's inexpensive. I don't mind the aperture priority, I've heard it called an amateur camera or worse. I disagree, last time I checked if the photograph is good, who cares what it was made on. The EM has a much better chance of daily use than my F4. (Which I also love)
The EM is always in my bag with a spare set of A76 batteries. It can run without them, (1/90 or 1/1000 without batteries) but I do like the having the meter available.
Anyways, the first day of February started out amazing, I checked the weather, and was going to hold until the afternoon so I headed out to the Canadian Badlands around Drumheller. Here's a few photographs I made using Ilford's new Ortho Plus 80 film. It's my second run with this film and I'm intrigued. I've since picked up some extra stock, I’ll be shooting this film again .
Enjoy!
Dean.
