A Sunday in January - A small adventure

The weather turned nice on the last weekend in January so it was time for a small adventure on the highways of south of Calgary, generally I like to do a bit of a loop to avoid seeing the same scenery on the day.

Highway 23 has a number of spots with charm that I never get tired of exploring. On the north end, Deanz Garage always has a slightly different look every time I go by. Vulcan and the Star Trek theming, it's also a great place to stop for a snack and to get gas for the car. The Mallory and Carnegie storefront at Kirkcaldy, the wind farms near Champion and Carmenguay, and many more.

The goal is always Fort Macleod for lunch, Johnny's on historic Main Street serves some of the best chinese and western food I've ever had.

The return home is usually straight up Highway 2 with stops along the way at Claresholm, Granum, Stavely and Nanton. More on all of those in a future post.

It's been a while since I've had my Instax Wide camera out so I grabbed a few decks of film from the fridge and headed out early. I also threw my digital slr in the bag to mix things up a bit without creating a whole bunch of work to develop film when I got home.

I love shooting film, developing the film, the whole process, but sometimes I just want to go shooting and see the results without the extra work. Sunday was one of those days.

Iā€™m pretty pleased with the Instax results on the day and I'm working on an Instax feature that will appear in a few weeks to show some of those. For now I thought I would share some digital slr photographs from a beautiful Sunday in January!

Enjoy!
