In Flanders Fields

"In Flanders Fields" is a war poem written by Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae, a Canadian physician, during World War I on May 3, 1915, after after presiding over the funeral of his friend and fellow soldier, Lieutenant Alexis Helmer, who was killed during the Second Battle of Ypres.

As legend has it, McCrae initially discarded the poem, dissatisfied with his writing. However, fellow soldiers recovered it, leading to its publication on December 8, 1915.

The title refers to Flanders Fields, a term for the battlefields in Belgium and France where many soldiers perished, symbolized by the red poppies that grew over soldiers' graves.

The total number of military and civilian casualties in World War I was about 40 million.

Between 15 to 22 million deaths and about 23 million wounded military personnel, ranking it among the deadliest conflicts in human history.

With the state of the world as we see it in 2024, now more than ever we need to remember the tragedy of the world wars in the last century...

Tekarra Studios is adding Photogrammetry and Analytics to The Lab

We have been spending the summer and fall building out the studio in Drumheller.

The build out is not just physical, we’ve also been developing new areas of interest, one of those has been our new photogrammetry lab which is mixing our love of aerial photography with another passion, spatial analysis using geographic information systems!

We’re getting close to launching the new product to be ready for the 2025 field season. We included a raw capture shown before analysis below.

Announcement: Deferral of the Generational Change Film Series

Reflecting on the amazing, crazy journey of 2024, the impact of our studio relocation to Drumheller has affected our ability to deliver on some of our artistic initiatives. This massive plot twist has led us to a reassessment of our project commitments in order to prioritize our objectives.

As one of our artistic initiatives, we have decided to defer the Generational Change film series. In the coming months, we will conduct a review of our entire portfolio to determine the most viable path forward for our commercial and artistic initiatives.

We remain optimistic about the future of the Generational Change film series and look forward to its eventual return.

Stay tuned, we are expecting 2025 to be another wild ride!

Tekarra Studios Releases Generational Change - Hydroelectric Generation

Today Tekarra Studios is launching the second short film in the series “Generational Change - An Alberta Legacy”.

For this second edition we've added the most amazing collaborators to partner in developing and telling these stories. This volume focuses on the history and longevity of hydroelectric generation in Alberta.

Tekarra Studios Launches Generational Change - An Alberta Legacy

Today Tekarra Studios is launching the first short film in the series “Generational Change - An Alberta Legacy”.

“Alberta is undergoing a historic transformation in how electricity is generated, moving from coal to natural gas and renewable generation. In early 2021 we began a project mapping and collecting photography of new generation facilities appearing on the landscape and researching the history of existing generation. From this project we are developing the short film series Generational Change focusing on transformational change in Alberta's electricity generation operations. "

Volume 1 is focused on the emergence of solar generation in Alberta since 2017. Other films in the series to be released through the year will touch on Hydro and Wind generation as well as a Coda which will cover legacy conventional generation as well as emerging technologies. Trailers for the additional films are in the film room.
